Elk Island Child and Youth Ranch has acknowledged that individual’s need further opportunities after leaving our Treatment Facility, and moving into SIL program’s. The owner of Elk Island Youth Ranch, Mark Lacoursiere, being the owner of two other businesses, a construction business called Pillar, and a Safety Training company, has encouraged individual growth by offering courses to clients, past and present at no cost. This relationship allows for many education options which can make clients employable at the level in which they can succeed. Courses and Training are made available in the following areas:
Flagman, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, Limits of Approach, Bucket Truck Training, Forklift Training, Fall Protection, and Skid Steer Training.
These above courses, and available employment offer work experience at a level that will keep the clients safe, but challenge them to succeed and push forward. Because of this unique relationship, we have seen clients exceed medical professionals opinions of what some clients are capable of.
